1. Here is the opening monologue. Long Sitter, speaking to , has a hard time making sense of her own thoughts. She starts to but it always seems to slip through her fingers. At the end Far Walker comes in and she is terrified. Long Sitter and Far Walker are two sides of a woman named Mona. In This Show Is About Progress they are played by two different actors. We sometimes speak together sometimes separately:

2. This clip takes place basically right after the first one. Far Walker comes in and she and Long Sitter have this interaction. Long Sitter represents stasis, weakness, fear, vulnerability. Far Walker represents action, control, bravery, cruelty. This is the conversation inside Mona’s head. The people sitting on the couch on the left are audience members:

3. This is a clip from the very intimate scene in the attic where Long Sitter and Far Walker speak as one person. They/She is remembering simple, pleasurable moments from buildings and houses in Seattle that were bulldozed. This monologue explores the sometimes singular and intimate relationship people have with buildings. We spend so much time in buildings alone. In the bathtub. With the dog. Watching the tree. Here the two sides of Mona speak as one:
